North Dakota Securities Department joined up with AARP and held five anti-fraud investment presentations around the state of North Dakota in August and September.  Three hundred and eighty-nine (389) seniors were provided information, tools and resources to avoid being a victim of investment fraud.

Topics of presentation included who is most likely to be a target of investment fraud, how to identify red flags, examples of investment fraud in North Dakota, and how to protect yourself.  Free resource tools were reviewed to help investors research the backgrounds of brokerage firms and brokers, as well as investment adviser firms and representatives. Seniors were also provided steps they should take if they believed they were a victim of securities fraud or questionable transactions had occurred in their investment account.

The N.D. Securities Department is responsible for the enforcement of North Dakota securities laws that protect citizens from dishonest investment practices, and regulates the people and companies offering investment opportunities. The department investigates hundreds of complaints every year.  To learn how to bring this presentation to your areas at no cost, contact us at 1-800-297-5124.
