Bismarck, ND - Former securities agent and investment advisor representative, Larry M. Atkins, and his firm, Atkins Brokerage Services, Inc., have been enjoined from the sale of promissory notes or other unregistered securities in North Dakota in an action brought by North Dakota Securities Commissioner Karen Tyler.

The action was brought in Cass County District Court, following an investigation by the Securities Department based on the complaints of two North Dakotans related to the sale of promissory notes issued by Atkins or Atkins Brokerage. The notes were not registered as required by North Dakota law and neither Atkins nor his company was registered to sell securities in North Dakota. It appears the complainants were also misled as to how their funds were being invested.

Following execution of a search warrant at Atkins Brokerage and Atkins' residence, evidence seized indicates the unregistered securities activity went far beyond the initial two complaints, said Commissioner Tyler. The investigation by the Securities Department is ongoing and investors affected by securities related activity conducted by Mr. Atkins are encouraged to contact the Department. Please contact Kelly Mathias, Supervisor of Investigations, North Dakota Securities Department at (800) 297-5124 or 328-2929 (Bismarck local).
